As the year winds down I'm reflecting on the many things our club does to help our community be a better place for everyone . I would like to thank all our members who helped to do the following in 2010 : Volunteer at the London Foodbank , raise money for charity including the Run for life and Prostate Cancer research , clean our public highways , plant / harvest crops to support those in need , provide funds for local animal shelters in St Thomas , provide new toys for families in distress and help create the Christmas float that makes the largest annual collection of food for those in need in the London area . We can all make a difference and although I'm sometimes frustrated we don't have the big numbers or support we could have when I look at this list of accomplishments I glad I'm a Parrothead .
Cheers Everyone

Phlock Phunding a Big Success
The London Ontario Parrothead Club had a great time raising money for our local Animal Aide . The party was held at members Gary & Lori tropical retreat where we enjoyed tasty food such as Cheeseburgers , Gumbo and my fav the delicious baked beans . Our meal was washed down by a variety of beverages including very yummy Margaritas . We held an auction run by Phirst mate Phil and when all was said and done we raised over $500 . Special thanks to Gary & Lori for hosting our event .
To continue our pledge of giving back to our community the London Parrotheads will host a highway cleanup on Saturday October 2 from 10 am to 12 pm . We will meet at the Flying J at the Highbury cloverleaf . This time we will clean the north side of the highway . After the hard work we will retire to Majoors for a cold beverage or two and some well deserved lunch . Hope to see you there .
Cheers ,

June Meeting & Event
Every year, a group of my friends and family enter a team into the Woodstock Relay For Life, an all night event in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. This year, I have a conflict the day of the Relay, so I'm proposing a daytime BBQ event the Saturday before, on June 12th. It will take place at ou...r home in North London, and we will have an afternoon walk, complete with pledges. There will be Boat Drinks, music, and a chance to do some charity work for a good cause.
Club Members wishing to participate may do so ONLY if they intend on being part of the team. $10 covers your food, and each participant will be expected to gather $100 minimum in pledges, with 100% of the money going the the Canadian Cancer Society under the "Team Margaritaville" banner.
Those wishing to take part can get contact me at the London Parrot Head Club group site on facebook .
The above information is from club member Steve Julian . This event will also be our club meeting for June. So if you can gather pledges , enjoy the perfect Parrot Head Day ,raising money for a great cause with fantastic people and " party with a purpose " we'll see you there. For further info please contact me at geeman8@sympatico.ca
